The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that 50% people in India still do not wear a mask, while 64% cover just their mouth but not the nose. The Centre cited a study conducted across 25 cities in the country, where over 2000 respondents were interviewed.
Giving more details on the Covid-19 situation in the country, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said that there has been a decline in case positivity since the last two weeks. Eight states in the country have more than 1 lakh active cases, 9 states have between 50,000-1 lakh active cases and 19 states have less than 50,000 active cases.
The Health ministry insisted on continuing with social distancing and the use of masks to check the spread of infection.
