2 Kappa variant cases found in UP, authorities say nothing to worry about

Two cases of Kappa variant of Covid-19 have been detected in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have not divulged information with respect to which districts have the variant in order to not spread fear among the people.

The variant was found through genome sequencing at King George’s medical college. Out of 109 samples, 107 were found to be of Delta plus variant while Kappa was found in 2.

UP authorities say that both variants are not new for the state and there is nothing to worry about.

At present, the daily positivity rate in the state is 0.04 per cent.
