AAP and SP have accused the Ram Mandir Trust of buying a piece of land for the temple premises at an inflated price of 18.5 crore.

AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and a former minister in the Samajwadi government, Pawan Pandey. have alleged that Shriram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai purchased the land, measuring 1.208 hectares for a price of Rs 18.50 crore. They showed papers to prove that the land was purchased from one Sultan Ansari in March this year, who had bought it for just ₹2 crores a few minutes earlier.

Rai has refuted the allegations.

Terming it a case of money laundering, Singh and Pandey both sought a probe by the CBI and the ED into the land purchase for the temple premises.
