Eleven cases of the new Kappa variant of Covid-19 have been detected in Rajasthan. State health authorities say of these, four cases each are from Alwar and Jaipur, two from Barmer and one is from Bhilwara.
Reports of nine samples have been received from Delhi and two from Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Hospital.

On July 9, two cases of the Kappa variant were detected in Uttar Pradesh.
According to WHO, the Kappa variant was found to be less dangerous than the Delta variant. The world health body has classified Kappa as 'a variant of interest'.
