In a 2021 survey by Gallup, 50% people were either satisfied with existing gun laws, or wanted looser laws. 41% were dissatisfied and wanted stricter gun laws.

Billionaire investor George Soros has warned that Russia's invasion of Ukraine may be the beginning of the third world war and that the civilisation may not survive this war.

In his annual speech in Davos on Tuesday, Soros said the world must mobilise all resources to bring the war to an early end and the best and perhaps only way to preserve the civilisation is to defeat Putin as soon as possible.

"China ought to be the senior partner in the alliance with Russia but Xi Jinping's lack of assertiveness allowed Putin to usurp that position. But Xi's worst mistake was to double down on his zero Covid policy," he said.
"Contrary to general expectations, Xi Jinping may not get his coveted third term because of the mistakes he has made. But even if he does, the Politburo may not give him a free hand to select the members of the next Politburo. That would greatly reduce his power and influence and make it less likely that he will become ruler for life," he added.

In his annual speech in Davos on Tuesday, Soros said the world must mobilise all resources to bring the war to an early end and the best and perhaps only way to preserve the civilisation is to defeat Putin as soon as possible.
"The invasion may have been the beginning of the third world war and our civilisation may not survive it," he said.
He also said that the invasion of Ukraine didn't come out of the blue and Putin had informed Xi about it well in advance.
Soros noted that Putin and Xi met on February 4 at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics and issued a long statement announcing that the cooperation between them has "no limits".
Putin informed Xi of a &ldquo;special military operation&rdquo; in Ukraine, but it is unclear whether he told Xi that he had a full-scale attack on Ukraine in mind, Soros said.
"US and UK military experts certainly told their Chinese counterparts what was in store. Xi approved, but asked Putin to wait until the conclusion of the winter Olympics," he said. Most of the order is focused on federal law enforcement agencies — for example, requiring them to review and revise policies on use of force. It would also create a database to help track officer misconduct, according to the White House.
Although the administration cannot require local police departments to participate in the database, which is intended to prevent problem officers from hopping from job to job, officials are looking for ways to use federal funding to encourage their cooperation.
In addition, the order would restrict the flow of surplus military equipment to local police.
In September, the Justice Department curtailed federal agents' use of no-knock warrants — which allow law enforcement agents to enter a home without announcing their presence — and updated its policy to prohibit agents from using chokeholds in most circumstances.
But extending such rules to local police is more challenging, and White House officials have spent months in negotiations with civil rights groups and police organizations.
The resulting set of policies is less extensive than originally sought, not to mention delayed by a year.

Twitter user Toko-san (@toco_eevee) or Toko fulfilled his long standing dream of looking like an animal when he transformed himself into a 'collie', a breed of dog.
He was able to undergo his transformation with the assistance of a professional agency called Zeppet. According to local reports, Zeppet produces costumes seen on Japanese TV, mascot characters and provides sculptures for movies and commercials. The particular costume of the 'collie' for Toko reportedly costed more than ₹ 12 lakh (2 million Yen) and took 40 days to make.
Toko has even spoken to news.mynavi where he was asked about why he chose a collie, he said, “I made it a collie because it looks real when I put it on my taste and costume. My favorite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog.
The interviewer even asked him whether he could move his limbs freely, to which he responded, “There are restrictions, but you can move it. However, if you move it too much, it will not look like a dog.”
Toko who has his own YouTube channel was seen asking viewers for “requests for the video you would like to see.” It is very difficult to locate a picture of Toko, outside of him in this dog costume.

Ukrainian seaports remain blocked by the Russian Black Sea Fleet, crippling the country's export of essential goods including grain and oils.
At least 70 vessels - up to 95% of them being international ones - are blocked at Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
The impact is being felt by traders in the country, with Ukraine is losing millions of dollars due to the export issues while the failure to deliver essential goods, primarily grains, by sea has put world food security at risk.
"While we used to have about a 6,000000-ton turnover via ports and other transportation hubs, right now, we are at 600,000-700,000 monthly," grain trader Vitaly Lavrov said.
Hundreds of ships have also lost the chance to set sail in Crimea.
With boats not able to leave, fishing businesses on the peninsula have been suffering.
"The company is suffering losses," local businessman Andrey Bezukh said.
"We had 100 tons of flatfish and brill projected for 2022. And that's only a part of the whole quota for the Republic of Crimea which is 352 tons."
He added people had been forced to look for other work with ships not able to set sail.

The Shehbaz Sharif governmen in the early hours of Thursday called in the army to protect the Red Zone of Islamabad as Imran Khan's Azadi March entered the capital city of Pakistan. 
The army was deployed to protect the government buildings and the Pakistan secretariat. 
The Pakistan Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted Imran Khan's party to hold his Azadi march in Islamabad and restrained the government from arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers. 
Clashes between PTI workers and the police was also reported in Punjab, Lahore and Karachi, before the march entered the capital. 
PTI claimed that the police opened fire on people who had gathered in support of the Azadi march in Lahore. 
Just as Imran Khan reached Islamabad, continuous tear gas shelling was reported in the city.
