Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to have bright display but thick bezels: Report

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to set new brightness standards with 2,200 nits, but may disappoint with bezel sizes similar to the Galaxy A54.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to have bright display but thick bezels: Report

Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy S24 Ultra has been the subject of numerous leaks and speculations. While significant buzz surrounds its new flat screen, which marks a departure for the Ultra series, other screen-related features are also making waves. Let's dive into the details, both promising and concerning.

A New Benchmark for Screen Brightness

One notable feature that excites fans is the maximum brightness of the Galaxy S24 Ultra's display. Reliable leak sources suggest the phone will feature a peak brightness of 2,200 nits, setting a new standard for mobile screens. To put this into perspective, its predecessor, the S23 Ultra, already had an impressive peak brightness of 1,750 nits and was never criticized for being dim. The S24 Ultra is expected to push the envelope even further in the brightness department.

Bezel Dimensions: A Step Back?

While the phone impresses in brightness, it seems to falter when it comes to bezel size. The leaks indicate that the bezels of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be nearly the same size as those on the Galaxy A54, a more budget-friendly Samsung phone. What's more, the bezels will be symmetrical in pairs, with the left and right bezels measuring 3.42mm and the top and bottom bezels at 3mm. This symmetry approach falls short of the design consistency achieved by other brands at various price points.

The Question of Screen-to-Body Ratio

Another issue that may dampen excitement is the screen-to-body ratio, projected to be 88%. This number is notably lower than what Samsung's flagship models usually offer. It's the lowest ratio for a flagship Samsung device since the Galaxy S10 released in 2019. This development may disappoint those looking for a more immersive screen experience.
