112-year-old Bob Weighton, the world's oldest man, has passed away. He was suffering from cancer. Weighton, from Hampshire in England, bagged the Guinness World Record title in February this year after the death of Chitetsu Watanabe of Japan. His family confirmed his demise in a statement on the 28th of May, adding that he was an extraordinary man and passed away peacefully in his sleep. He celebrated his last birthday on the 29th of March privately owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and described the situation as a 'bit of a mess'. In previous interviews, he often revealed the secret to his longevity was 'to avoid dying'. He is survived by his children, 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
