World leaders on Saturday participated in a global fundraising drive for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine in the near future. The event organised by Global Citizen and the European Commission is aimed at raising billions of dollars to ensure covid testing, treatment and vaccine availability. About a dozen potential vaccines are in testing stages; but the question of distribution amongst developing countries has created some unease at international forums. While numerous rich countries have already ordered experimental batches and expect delivery before final approval of vaccines, health experts warn that the allocation of vaccines for the poorer nations could be inequitable and messy.
