Turkmenistan is home to a gas crater called 'Door to Hell'. The crater is almost the size of a football field and has apparently been burning for the last 50 years! Located in the Karakum desert, the fiery flames can be seen from afar. Theories claim that it was set on fire as there was a danger of potential gas leaks, when a Soviet drilling rig accidentally dug into the area. There is still ambiguity on when the flames on this natural gas crater will stop fuming.
