Amidst the chaos of the pandemic, binge watch these movies this weekend. 

Nomadland | Disney+ Hotstar

'Nomadland' which stole the show at the 93rd Academy Awards, taking home the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.  Based on a 2017 book by Jessica Bruder of the same name, 'Nomadland' stars Frances McDormand as a woman who leaves her hometown after her husband dies. After losing her job to the Great Recession, Frances aka Fern stuffs her minuscule belongings into a battered van and ventures out into the country in search of work and peace. As she discovers fellow nomads on her journey, she ends up unearthing a new meaning of home.

Mumbai Saga | Amazon Prime Video

Almost a month after its theatrical release, actor John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi starrer action-drama 'Mumbai Saga' is now available on Amazon Prime Video. Set in the 1980s and 90s, the film chronicles the transformation of Bombay to Mumbai. While John plays the role of a gangster aspiring to rule Bombay, Emraan plays the role of a cop who has vowed to shoot him on the head and win ₹10 crore prize money. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar, Suniel Shetty and Mahesh Manjrekar among others. 

The Disciple | Netflix

Chaitanya Tamhane’s award-winning Marathi film 'The Disciple' has got a Netflix release. Starring actor Aditya Modak in the lead role, the film traces the journey and conflicts of a classical vocalist who follows the traditions and discipline of the old masters, his guru and his father. The film, which includes Alfonso Cuarón as an executive producer, premiered at the 77th edition of the Venice Film Festival and won the prestigious FIPRESCI award.

Without Remorse | Amazon Prime Video

The action-packed Amazon Prime Video series 'Without Remorse' stars Michael B Jordan in the lead role. John Clark played by Jordan, is a Navy SEAL who goes on a killing spree after his pregnant wife is murdered owing to his involvement in a top-secret operation. His path of destruction uncovers a major conspiracy that threatens to submerge America and Russia in a vicious war, forcing him to pick between his duty as a soldier.

Out of Love season 2 | Disney+ Hotstar

Rasika Dugal and Purab Kohli have returned with the second outing of their highly acclaimed drama series 'Out of Love season 2'.  The Disney+ Hotstar series explores infidelity and its crippling impact on relationships. Set three years after she exposed her husband, Akarsh's affair, Dr Meera Kapoor's life is now better than ever before. However, her past returns to bite her as Akarsh is all set for a vengeance against the woman who exposed his shortcomings and crushed his ego.

LOL - Hasse Toh Phasse | Amazon Prime Video

An Indian version of the famous TV show, 'Last One Laughing, Hasse Toh Phasse' will have 10 famous comics locked in a confined space for six hours and anyone who even smiles at a joke will be evicted. Hosted by Bollywood comedy veterans Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi, 'LOL — Hasse Toh Phasse' features Sunil Grover, Mallika Dua, Kusha Kapila, Gaurav Gera, Cyrus Broacha, Suresh Menon, Aakash Gupta, Aadar Malik, Aditi Mittal, and Ankita Shrivastav as contestants.
