A Japanese auto company has announced the successful test drive of its flying car model, demonstrated publically on August 25.

The flight took place at the 2.5-acre Toyota Test Field, which is one of the largest test fields in Japan.

The SD-03 model can accommodate single seating and circled the field for about four minutes after takeoff. The aircraft has been designed to be the world’s smallest electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) model as a futuristic means of transportation.

SkyDrive will continue to conduct test flights under more varied conditions to improve its technology and achieve full compliance with the safety provisions of the Civil Aeronautics Act.

The company aims to launch its flying cars in the market by as early as 2023 but has not set a price yet.
