Virus affects price of spices cumin, coriander

Apr 30, 2020 16:55 IST

The rise of Covid-19 could be coming for your spice rack. Cumin and coriander are two of the most consumed spices in India but their harvest is stuck with growers as mandis in Gujarat remain shut, reports Economic Times. While jeera is the second-largest exported spice from the country, the consumption of coriander is heavily dependent on the local market. But due to the current situation, the price of coriander rose Rs 98 to Rs 5,892 per quintal in futures trade amid growing demand.
