Many may have seen Vijay Shankar as someone who was being groomed as a replacement for Hardik Pandya when the latter was serving a ban from cricket but the all-rounder feels otherwise. In an interview to PTI, Shankar said that if he starts to get affected by the fact that Pandya is Team India's number 1 choice, then he will lose out on games that he has with him. Shankar added that if he focuses on the games that he has and puts up match-winning performances. So, he can't think about what other players were doing. Shankar hasn't been a part of the Indian team ever since he was ruled of the 2019 World Cup midway due to a fractured toe.
