US intel report on Khashoggi death expected to single out Saudi crown prince: reports

Feb 25, 2021 18:52 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The US govt is expected to release a declassified US intelligence report on Thursday that is likely to point out that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018, reports said quoting officials familiar with the matter.

The report for which the CIA is the main contributor is part of the Biden administration’s policy to realign ties with Riyadh, after years of giving the Arab nation, a pass on its human rights record.

President Joe Biden has read the report and expected to speak on phone with Saudi Arabian King Salman, the father of the crown prince, the country's 35-year-old de facto ruler.
