Up close: take a look at the massive crack that broke Antarctica's mega iceberg

Mar 06, 2021 14:15 IST | By Editorji News Desk

Antarctica's mega A74 ice block broke off from Brunt ice shelf last week due to a massive crack that resulted in its calving.

Now, a satellite called the UK satellite Vision-1 has released a high resolution imagery of the crack.

The photos show the ever widening "North Rift" a day after calving of the ice shelf.

EU's Sentinel-1 spacecraft also released images capturing a a wider view of the 150m-thick A74 block pushing out into Antarctica's Weddell Sea.
