External affairs minister S Jaishankar will visit Bangladesh on Thursday to prepare the grounds for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to the country later this month.
Jaishankar is visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of counterpart AK Abdul Momen. The minister will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the day-long trip, the external affairs ministry said on Wednesday. PM Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26 to participate in the country's 50th Independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations. This will be Modi's first international visit since the coronavirus outbreak last year.
