'Uncaring': Sonia flays Centre, Didi wants joint plea in SC over exams

Aug 26, 2020 15:55 IST

As the call to postpone JEE and NEET exams grows louder, Congress President Sonia Gandhi criticised the Centre's overall attitude towards education and students. In a virtual meeting with chief ministers of 7 states, Sonia Gandhi said that announcements like the new National Education Policy are cause of worry and in reality it is a setback to the education system. She added that the Centre was uncaring in its dealing with problems of students and examinations. The meeting was attended by Mamata Banerjee, Captain Amarinder Singh, Uddhav Thackeray, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Hemant Soren and V Narayansamy. Mamata meanwhile requested all state governments to file a joint petition in the supreme court for the postponement of the entrance exams.
