To tackle the spread of misinformation linked to Covid-19, the United Nations has launched an initiative called 'Verified'. Millions of 'digital first responders' will sign up voluntarily, around the world to disseminate fact-based information and advice to family, followers and friends. According to the head of UN communications department, misinformation in many countries is hampering the response to the outbreak and causing unrest. 'Verified' will help reach people with information they can trust, through scientists and institutions. These information volunteers will be asked to share a daily feed of verified information to counter the false information.
