Scientists at a research station in Antarctica shared spooky images of red snow and it's giving people chills. The Ukranian scientists claimed that the blood snow has been visible near Vernadsky Research Base for a few weeks now and is a natural phenomenon. It's caused due to Chlamydomonas nivalis or a kind of microscopic algae that has the ability to survive in extreme cold temperatures, giving snow its reddish hue. Ukraine's Ministry of Education and Science took to Facebook to further explain that the red snow has a disadvantage. It causes snow to melt faster since less sunlight is reflected off its surface, leading to climate change.
