UK's first prototype telephone box gets an upgraded status

Dec 28, 2019 14:37 IST

United Kingdom's first ever red Telephone Box, called K2 prototype telephone box, has been upgraded to a list that consists of many other iconic buildings of the country. The prototype box has been given a grade II listing and was built as a part of a competition in 1924. It stands outside the Royal Academy in London and was created by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott as a basis of design for future telephone boxes in the country. The iconic structure has been recognised for its marvellous design status and will now be protected by the country.
