Jan 09, 2020 11:44 IST

A 5-year-old British girl, with severe brain injuries, has been shifted from intensive care to a rehabilitation centre after treatment in Italy. Her parents had won a historic legal battle in favour of their application for her to be transferred to Italy for specialist treatment. The 5-year-old girl, Tafida Raqeeb was receiving treatment in London when doctors' said she wouldn't survive very long and suggested that life support should be stopped. The Italy hospital operated on the girl's brain along with tracheotomy and gastrosomy so she could breathe on her own for few hours a day. While it is unclear if Tafida will be able to regain consciousness, the next few months will be crucial for her.
