UK clears fugitive billionaire Nirav Modi's extradition to India

Apr 16, 2021 17:49 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The UK government has cleared fugitive billionaire Nirav Modi’s extradition to India. The approval comes ahead of UK PM Boris Johnsson’s visit to India.

In February, a UK court had cleared the first legal hurdle for his extradition and sent the case to the Home Secretary.

Nirav Modi however still has the option of legally challenging his extradition to India. The jeweller is wanted by Indian courts for fraud and money laundering in the ₹ 14,000-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) loan scam.
