Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek help from him to save his post. Thackeray, who is not a member of the Maharashtra legislature, is required to get elected or nominated to either houses of the state assembly within 6 months of being sworn-in to continue as Chief Minister. His deadlines expires on May 24. Bypolls to a Legislative Assembly seat can't be held due to the coronavirus lockodwn and therefore the state's cabinet approached Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari with a recommendation to nominate Uddhav Thackeray as a MLC under the Governor's quota. The Governor has not approved the recommendation yet which forced the Shiv Sena chief to seek help from his estranged ally, PM Modi.
