Even as Covid-19 cases rise in the two states, Bihar and Assam are still reeling under a devastating flood. Bihar reported two more deaths from Muzaffarnagar district, taking the toll to 13 on Saturday. Around 49.05 lakh people have been affected across 14 districts of Bihar. No fresh casualties were reported from Assam as rescue and relief work has been stepped up and the flood situation improved slightly. However, over 10 lakh people across 20 districts in the state have been displaced by the calamity. In Assam, flood has claimed the lives of 145 animals, while 170 others were rescued from an inundated Kaziranga National Park. Authorities are running around 206 relief camps and distribution centres across 15 districts in Assam, where over 29,000 people have taken shelter.
