India were off to a disappointing start at the 2019 Sudirman Cup and went down to Malaysia 2-3 in their 1st tie on Tuesday. India's top-ranked shuttler PV Sindhu gave her side a good start by winning her singles match, followed by a win in the mixed doubles as well. But then India threw away the advantage, as Sameer Verma lost his men's singles match. India thereafter could not hold ground in the men's doubles and women's doubles matches and ended up losing the tie. India need to beat mighty China on Wednesday to earn a quarter-finals spot.
