The image of a saree-clad migrant woman as Maa Durga with her children has made netizens emotional. Kolkata's Barisha Clun Durga Puja committee in Behala decided to highlight the pitiable condition of the migrant workers during the pandemic induced lockdown. A Kolkata idol maker used his art to show the plight of the migrants. The artist, Rintu Das, said he was overwhelmed with the sight of women with their children walking hundreds of kilometers to reach their home. The idol is a representation of those women who braved such tough times. The lockdown in March left hundreds of migrants jobless forcing them to walk back to their hometowns on foot.
