Tokyo 2020 Olympics Chief doesn't rule out last-minute cancellation

Jul 21, 2021 12:28 IST | By Editorji News Desk

Tokyo 2020 organising committee has confirmed that the Games could be cancelled even at the last minute if there is a spike in Covid-19 cases. As more and more athletes and officials reach the Games Village, there is an increase in the number of positive cases and that has been a worrying sign for the Organising Committee.

Most sponsors have also decided to ditch the Opening Ceremony scheduled for Friday in Tokyo. Toshiro Muto, the Chief of the Organising Committee confirmed that her team is keeping an eye on infection numbers and will speak to the other organisers if necessary.
