The United States has announced sanctions and visa bans on on 76 Saudi Arabian citizens over the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The Biden administration, however, stopped short of imposing sanctions on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been named in a US intelligence report. While announcing the 'Khashoggi Ban', US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that extra-terrotorial threats and assaults by Saudi Arabia against activists, dissidents and journalists must end. The US said that 76 sanctioned Saudi citizens have been engaged in threatening dissidents overseas, including Jamal Khashoggi.
