TN rain alert: Schools shut, univ exam cancelled

The Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday in three districts in view of the heavy rains predictions for Friday. The schools and colleges in Kanchipuram, Vellore and Chengalpet would remain closed. The holiday was declared following heavy rains in a few districts of the state. The University of Madras, too, has cancelled the exams which were to be held on Friday. A fresh date for the exams will be announced later.
