Ahead of the big night on the 31st of December, the iconic crystal ball that will ring in the new year at Times Square in New York was given a final test run.
The muted celebration this year will see the ball descend to the bottom of the pole at the stroke of midnight.
Those interested, will get to see the ceremony online or on the TV. Only a handful of first respondents have been invited to watch the ball drop and live performances in person.
