In a bid to 'reclaim Pride', thousands of activists and members of the LGBTQ community marched through Chicago's North Side even though the annual parade stood cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this year's march according to a report by news agency Associated Press was to 'reclaim grassroots efforts that launched the LGBTQ movement with a focus on black and brown, especially transgender voices'. In other parts of the world too, celebrations were held. While some were virtual others saw people flock to the streets while observing social distance. In Jerusalem, hundreds of supporters attended a rally and a minute's silence was held for 16-year-old Shira Banki, who was stabbed to death during the city's pride parade in 2015. Events were also held in Israeli cities of Haifa, Tel Aviv and Beersheva.
