Suffolk Owl Sanctuary in eastern England was called to rescue an owl that couldn't fly. It was too fat to fly! The owl was found in a ditch, unable to lift itself. It weighed an unusual 245 grams and couldn't fly due to fatty deposits around the body. After a few days of observation and a strict diet, the bird was released into the wild. The sanctuary speculated that it was probably overindulgence on the mice and voles, found where it was rescued from, that may have lead to obesity.
