A young farmer from Karnataka's Kalaburagi has started cultivating a unique yellow variety of watermelons in his field, scientifically.
Basavaraj Patil told news agency ANI that he has already earned a profit of over a lakh by selling these watermelons.
He is also directly in touch with shopping marts like Big Bazaar in his city to boost the sale of this unique variety.
Patil hopes that other farmers too diversity crop production in the country.
Yellow watermelons are believed to have a sweeter taste than the usual red one. It is rich in vitamin A and C and contains high contents of beta-carotene, an essential antioxidant.
