Tragic images from the southern border of the US. Bodies of a Salvadoran migrant and his two-year-old daughter who died while trying to cross the Rio Grande river from Mexico to the United States. The family had travelled from El Salvador hoping to claim asylum in the US but while the mother and daughter made it across, the father and toddler were swept away. When their bodies were found the girl was still clinging to her father's neck. These pictures have stirred anger globally, especially in El Salvador and Mexico, where the government had faced sharp criticism for its treatment of migrants.
