The Delhi Police on Monday rejected the charge of reaching the Jawaharlal Nehru University late despite several pleas by students' unions. The force also asserted that they responded to PCR calls and law-and-order situation professionally to control the violence on the campus. Addressing reporters, Delhi Police spokesperson Mandeep Singh Randhawa said the internal security of the JNU lies with the varsity administration.
“We responded as soon as a PCR call was received. We sanitized the area after the university staff called us. Normally, police deployment is only in the administration block, and the scuffle took place away from that area. Around 7:45 pm, we were requested by JNU administration, then we entered the University and carried out a flag march,”
