Mattel’s most popular toy, Barbie is becoming more and more inclusive and now has a brand new avatar which will make Indians proud. A new Barbie has been sculpted after Indo-American ecologist at the University of Utah, Nalini Nadkarni. Interestingly, Nalini for years created dolls that represented women in professions like hers. She labelled them as 'treetop barbies' and to honour her contribution to science, Mattel joined hands with National Geographic to come up with four Barbies, to represent women of colour, in STEM professions. These Barbies are not your regular dolls, they mean business. They're decked with binoculars, helmets, boots and jackets. The range includes a wildlife conservationist, an astrophysicist, a marine biologist, a photojournalist and an entomologist.
