Myanmar's military junta must relinquish power and restore the democratically-elected government, the United States said, asserting that it stands strongly with the people of Myanmar.
State Department spokesperson Ned Price said, Burma's military leaders must see that their attempts to replace the democratically-elected government and its violent actions will have consequences.
His remarks come a day after the United States announced an additional set of sanctions against two military leaders of Myanmar.
Earlier this month, the Myanmar junta seized power and detained top political figures including Former State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi and the President.
