Taiwan bans video-conferencing app Zoom over privacy concerns

Apr 08, 2020 16:47 IST

Taiwan has barred all official use of Zoom, becoming one of the first governments to impose an outright ban on the popular video-conferencing app over mounting security and privacy concerns. The island’s cabinet said in a statement that the agencies should rather use alternatives, including software from Google and Microsoft. Individuals and organisations around the world are using the app to conduct meetings remotely in an effort to minimise the coronavirus pandemic spread.
