Swimmers, surfers back at Bondi beach in Sydney as lockdown curbs ease

Apr 28, 2020 13:32 IST

Authorities in Sydney’s eastern suburbs have reopened the Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama beaches to swimmers and surfers between 7 am and 5 pm on weekdays. The beaches were closed as Australia’s coronavirus restrictions came into force. They will remain closed on weekends, and only the water is ‘open’, but sunbathing, walking and jogging on the beach is not allowed. Hundreds returned to the water at Bondi for the first time since the beach was closed five weeks ago.
