In a remarkable discovery, two 10th grade students from Surat, Vaidehi Vekariya and Radhika Lakhani have discovered an asteroid near Mars. It has been named HLV2514 by space agency NASA. The discovery was part of a two-month long science programme called All India Asteroid Search Campaign. NASA acknowledged their rare find and confirmed the same in an email sent to the young girls. The near-Earth object (NEO) is currently close to the planet Mars and over the next few years, it could evolve into an Earth-crossing asteroid.
