Study shows how lost memory might be retrieved from the brain

Jun 03, 2019 20:01 IST

What would it be like to retrieve the memory you lost? The brain might be an extremely complicated organ to understand, but a new study shows a certain region in the brain which plays a key role in recalling memory. Using electrical current to stimulate the 'left rostrolateral prefrontal cortex', located behind the left side of the forehead, between the eyebrow and the hairline, improves people's ability to retrieve memories, according to the research published in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience. Tests were conducted with 3 groups of people consisting of 13 women and 11 men each, and it was found that increasing their excitability made neurons more likely to fire, which enhanced the connections between neurons.
