A new study has found that Covid-19 cannot be transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. The first study looking into the claim that has been touted by the World Health Organization as well was published in the journal Scientific Reports. For the research, three widely distributed species of mosquito which make up the most significant genera of arbovirus vectors that infect people were tested. All three of the species are present in China, the country of origin of the novel coronavirus. 'Even under extreme conditions, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is unable to replicate in these mosquitoes and therefore cannot be transmitted to people even in the unlikely event that a mosquito fed upon a viremic host,' the scientists wrote in the study.
