The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given approval to SpiceJet to use drones for faster and cost-effective delivery of e-commerce parcels, medical, pharma, and other essential supplies in remote areas. Post trials and approvals, SpiceXpress, the dedicated cargo arm of SpiceJet, plans to use drones for a quicker, faster and cost-effective deliveries. Earlier this month, the civil aviation ministry had granted exemptions to 13 companies, to operate drones on an experimental basis with operator permits till September 30. The SpiceJet arm has emerged as the first to receive approval to pilot the use of drones to transport goods.
