Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi on Thursday skipped the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, instead chose to pen letters to wish the Sena Chief on his new innings. In her letter Sonia Gandhi wrote that the Shiv Sena, NCP and the Congress have come together under extraordinary circumstances when the country was facing unprecedented threats from the BJP. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also set a similar tone in his letter to Uddhav Thackeray. He said that the events leading to the government formation in Maharashtra have set a dangerous precedent for our democracy and hopes that the new Maharashtra government proves to be stable, secular and pro-poor.
