Smog envelops Bangkok, PM asks people to wear masks

Sep 30, 2019 17:30 IST

Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha on Monday urged people in Bangkok to wear face masks because of poor air quality in the capital. In a Facebook post, PM Chan-ocha said that "the concentration of tiny dust particles had reached unsafe levels" and that he has ordered government agencies to expedite anti-pollution measures. Cough and eye irritation is a common complaint among Bangkok residents after a layer of toxic smog settled over the city.
