Home minister Amit Shah has responded to the raging controversy over the Tanishq advertisement featuring an interfaith couple. Calling the controversy ‘a small incident’, in an interview with New 18, the home minister said that such incidents can’t break India’s social harmony and that its roots are very strong. The BJP leader said there have been many such attacks in the past as well. He said the British tried to break this harmony, and later the Congress also tried the same. An advertisement run by jewellery brand Tanishq earlier went viral -- it showed a woman from majority community married into a minority community family and ready for her baby shower. The advertisement led to outrage among a large section who claimed it was promoting love jihad.
