A tense situation prevailed at Singhu border on Friday after scuffles broke between protesting farmers and local people who were demanding that the area be vacated. A policeman was injured during the clashes. Alipur SHO Pradeep Kumar, who was injured in the scuffle told media that one of the "protesting farmers" attacked him with a sword when the police intervened to control the situation. The accused, who was later identified as Saravan Singh Pandher, has been arrested. Delhi Police has also now released a picture of the incident. Stone-pelting incidents were also reported from the area after which the police had to resort to lathicharge and fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
