Shift to new base year for GDP calculation may be delayed

The shift to a new base year for calculating India’s national accounts is likely to be delayed.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation informed the Parliament that the ministry was advised to consider 2020-21 as the next base year of National Accounts, in view of the structural reforms in the economy, instead of the earlier recommendation of adopting 2017-18 as the base year.
