Jun 26, 2019 07:43 IST

Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir today on his first trip since assuming charge. The home minister will review the security situation in the state and the progress of development projects undertaken by the Centre. Shah will also chair a meeting of the Unified Command to review steps taken for a peaceful and terror-free Amarnath Yatra, and discuss ongoing and future counterterror operations. Shah's visit comes in the backdrop of J&K governor Satya Pal Malik's assertion that Hurriyat was ready for talks with New Delhi
