Shah flags off Vande Bharat Exp to Vaishno Devi

Oct 03, 2019 11:28 IST

Home minister Amit Shah on Thursday flagged off the Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Popularly known as Train 18, it will start commercial run from October 5 onwards. The New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express will depart from the New Delhi railway station at 6 am to reach Katra at 2 pm. It will run daily except Tuesdays. The luxury all air-conditioned chair car service is an engine-less self-propelled trainset and will reduce travel time from 12 to 8 hours. It also has windows with a special provision to protect against stone-pelting and a cattle guard in the front to prevent damage to the train or derailment in case of cattle run.
